Internet Tech: What’s Out, What’s Coming, What’s Good
Technology is changing so much in such a short amount of time. What’s hot today may easily be replaced by the next best thing tomorrow. The best way to stay ahead of the game is by keeping an eye on technology trends.
It’s safe to say that Facebook is here to stay – at least for a while. The social network media has become an enormous part of the internet community. People check their accounts several times a day just to see what their friends are doing. This is the same for Twitter. It has become something that is used by adults and teenagers. It is even used by news media, businesses, and celebrities.
Apple has also proved that they are here to stay year by year as they push the envelope in technology even further. The iPad dominated 2010 and it continues to have a stronghold on the tablet PC market. The HP Touchpad, by contrast, is out. HP will lose millions on the device that they meant to introduce as competition to the iPad. HP is now selling them dirt cheap because they have stopped production on this device.
People are flocking to the eBook readers, but there is not going to be enough room for all the competitors on the market. It appears that the Kindle will lose business as the Nook by Barnes & Noble picks up steam. Apple is even working to improve their eBook apps. This spells even more trouble for Kindle.
Any portable electronic device that does not have wireless connectivity is out. No one wants to buy anything that does not allow them to connect to the internet. More phones that support video games are coming. This concept, coincidentally, will be the doom of hand held gaming systems like the Nintendo DS.
