Digital TV - get your vouchers ASAP

tv-indoor.jpgPeople dont wait, starting in Jan 2008 you will be able to request 2 vouchers to subsidize the cost of having to buy analog to digital tv converter boxes. So if your tv uses rabbit ear antennas to watch tv you will need a converter box for your tv to work. But many consumers have no idea that this change is coming, and members of Congress are voicing concern over the lack of cooperation between federal agencies and the entertainment industry. The political clash comes as broadcasters, retailers, cable operators and regulators argue over how to educate consumers about the change.

The vouchers are nice but there should be FREE vouchers for all senior citizens. That would be one constant demographic that I think deserves free converter boxes. The goverment can give a tax break to the company that makes the boxes who sells them to seniors. This would be a good thing because it may invole more seniors into certain practical parts of technology, and help possibly close some of that divide. From what I heard the vouchers only pay 1/3 of the cost of the box. I also feel that handicap ladies and gentlemen deserve free boxes this is not a lot to ask of.

I found an excellent site; it had all the info about the Digital Transition and requesting the $40 coupon. I ordered my 2 coupons from it. http://www.digitalconverterbox.org
